Leah Ross

I am a small town girl, from rural west Alabama. Married to a football coach, we have lived in Alabama, Chattanooga, TN and now Richmond. After spending several years working with college students/student athletes, I now mostly stay at home with our two daughters. I sing with our church worship group, TestifyRVA, and I also teach fitness classes at the University of Richmond. When I'm not busy cheering at my husband’s football games, chasing my children, or folding the seemingly never ending pile of laundry, I enjoy date nights with my husband, naptime workouts, reading, and listening to true crime podcasts.
I became a certified birth doula through BEST Doula certification. Becoming a doula was the hardest yet easiest decision I've ever made. When our second daughter was born, it was truly magical. I felt a calling to serve and empower other laboring mothers in having a positive, beautiful experience much like my own. Through encouragement, affirmation, love and support I am looking forward to serving families, and witnessing each and every birth day.

About
Birth Doula

What is a doula? I am a trained companion —not a healthcare professional—who supports birthing persons and their partners through prenatal visits, labor and delivery and also during the postpartum stage. I am here to support you in all aspects of your birth journey, to encourage you, help you with pain management and provide affirmations and reassurance that you can do hard things.

Free Consultation

In order to provide a better understanding about your priorities and to address any general inquiries you may have. I am happy to conduct a free interview. Mothers need to be given the freedom to choose the option that works best for them and their families. I like meeting each person and family and talking to them to provide more clarity.

Home Visits

In all of my packages I provide 1-2 prenatal visits and 1-2 postpartum visits. The main goal of the prenatal visit is to learn about you, about your family, what kind of birth experience you’re looking for, and what kinds of support you wish to receive during your labor and delivery. The main goal of your postpartum visit is to assess how you’re coping physically after giving birth, and to support you any way I can. I can also help with/or provide resources for breastfeeding/lactation.

Postpartum Health & Fitness

I am a certified spin instructor, TRX instructor and have taught many health and fitness classes over the years. I can help you get your pre-baby body back! I provide daily support and customized plan for exercise, eating/tracking as well as sleeping. Includes unlimited support, workouts, meal plans, etc. for up to 6 weeks (after your 6 week postpartum checkup).

Baby Basics

I can help you get started with a routine for your baby. This includes eating habits (what to feed, how much to feed and when) and basics of sleep.

Virtual Visits

Virtual visits allow me to connect with you. If you don't reside in my region. We are still able to cooperate. We can work together to build a personalized birth plan for your preferences and connect through one-on-one video meetings. I offer resources and skills that are personalized to your individual requirements in order to make you feel secure on the day of your delivery.

Services

Every birth is different, so each package is tailored to your needs. If there is something that is not listed here, please reach out and ask! In addition, I offer a free interview to talk about preferences, and to answer any questions new parents may have. I love the opportunity to meet new people!
